Programs and Training DRAFT

Florida State University's Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps provides comprehensive academic and field training to produce officers of the highest caliber for the U.S. Army. Required courses equip cadets for successful careers through rigorous physical and leadership training, while summer military training and extracurricular programs throughout the academic year allow cadets to supplement their courses while building field skills.

Cadets, in addition to their academic studies, take military science courses, participate in Physical Readiness Training (PRT), Leadership Lab, and attend Basic and Advanced Camp in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Cadets also have the opportunity to compete for summer training opportunities ranging from airborne and air assault school to professional internships.

Course Requirements

Cadets take a variety of academic courses as well as Physical Readiness Training (PRT) to improve strength, stamina, and agility, Leadership Lab, where officer skills are developed, and Field Training Exercise (FTX), designed to simulate combat and advance leadership and teamwork competency.

Summer Training Programs

During the summer, cadets can enhance their field skills with military training programs including Airborne School, a three-week course in Fort Benning, Georgia, Air Assault School, an intensive 10-day course using helicopters to enter combat, and Cadet Troop Leader Training (CTLT), where MS-III level cadets learn to lead a platoon.

Extracurricular Programs

FSU ROTC's competitive teams help cadets build bonds and knowledge. Opportunities include the Ranger Challenge, Seminole Guard, Army 10 Miler Team, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GAFPB).

Army ROTC Eligibility Criteria

Prospective cadets must meet academic, height and weight requirements, and pass the Army Fitness Test (AFT) to be eligible for the program. These requirements ensure that cadets are prepared to meet the Army's physical and mental demands.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

The Army offers numerous scholarships to cover the cost of tuition or housing while cadets pursue their undergraduate degrees. Cadets must meet eligibility requirements to qualify for two, three, and four-year scholarships.
